Pimento is a new French startup project that leverages smart technology in an innovative way, focusing on the initial stage of creativity, which is generating ideas, research, creative thinking, and creating illustrative artworks.
Recently, the company has secured funding worth 3.2 million US dollars (3 million euros) from a group of distinguished investors.
The best way to explain the nature of Pimento is by talking about the people who can benefit from using this tool. For example, creative teams working on redesigning a brand, advertising campaign, video game, or animated film will experience using Pimento on the first day of their new projects. This tool is used to initiate the research process.
These users aim to gather a reference document containing images, texts, and colors to be used in future projects. This document serves as a primary source of inspiration and initial guidance for other teams working on these tasks.
At this stage, numerous modifications and changes occur because clients or managers may be selective and change their opinions frequently. They may provide you with guidance for the next meeting within two weeks, but they may not be satisfied with what the creative team presents afterward, requiring creative professionals to start over completely.
Currently, many creatives rely on platforms like Pinterest, Instagram, Behance, Canva, and Visme to find images online and create mood boards. In many aspects, your creativity relies on the tools you use.
Co-founder Thomas Jani stated, “You can explore more trends faster than you can produce higher-quality projects.” He added in the interview, “AI models provide a wealth of knowledge that no designer can obtain. These models have witnessed many things as they were originally trained using data from Japan and Latin America.”
Partech and Cygni Capital led Pimento’s first funding round. The round also saw participation from several angel investors, such as Julien Schumond (Hugging Face), Stanislas Polu (Dust), Thibaut Delelis (Hexa), Jean-Charles Samuelian (Alan), Igor Manso (former creative director at Ubisoft), Jonathan Widawski (Maze), Alessandro Sabatelli (formerly at Apple), and Nicholas Stiegman (formerly at Stupeflix).
