Samsung has revealed in a recent post about “a new era of AI for Galaxy devices”, unveiling a new feature that enables instant phone call translation using AI technology.
The Samsung company post stated: “The AI technology for Galaxy devices offers a comprehensive smartphone experience supported by embedded AI technology in the device itself and cloud AI technology available through strategic partnerships with industry-leading companies.”
It further added: “The AI technology for Galaxy devices works to enhance your smartphone usage experience without compromising the security and privacy of Galaxy phones.”
Google had introduced a phone call translation feature on a limited scale for Pixel devices. It is expected that Samsung users will be able to use a similar feature on their phones early next year without the need to install additional apps.
Samsung’s mobile phone application will come with the AI Live Translate Call feature, which provides instant call translation. Both voice and text translations will appear instantly during calls, making communication with people speaking different languages as easy as turning on the translation toolbar when watching videos.
The AI Live Translate Call service allows Galaxy phone users to get instant translation during calls as needed, with the translation taking place within the device itself.
The AI technology for Galaxy devices is expected to arrive early next year, indicating the possibility of integrating AI features for Galaxy phones in the Galaxy S24 smart device lineup. The company is rumored to be planning to launch these phones in 2024.
The “AI Live Translate Call” feature displays translations in real-time similar to a chat log during phone calls, as shown in the test screen capture depicting a dialogue between an English speaker residing in New York and a Korean speaker residing in Seoul.
The tool provides an “Add Event” button to facilitate adding mentioned appointments and events during calls to your calendar.
