In a significant milestone for the energy sector, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has announced a 25% increase in the production capacity of the “Sarb” offshore field, also known as the “Satah Al Razboot” field. This boost is in line with ADNOC’s strategic goal to raise its daily oil output to 5 million barrels by 2027, leveraging the latest digital and artificial intelligence technologies.
Advanced Technologies for Smart Production Operations
The “Sarb” offshore field is located 120 kilometers northwest of Abu Dhabi and is remotely managed from an advanced control center on Zirku Island, situated 20 kilometers from the field. The technologies employed at this center include sophisticated monitoring systems, smart well operations, and real-time production management tools, all of which enhance decision-making speed and accuracy.
Cost and Emissions Reduction
The implementation of these technologies has expedited the increase in the field’s production capacity while simultaneously reducing costs and carbon emissions. By integrating digital solutions and AI tools, operational efficiency is significantly improved, promoting sustainability and minimizing environmental impact.
Leading Digital Transformation in the Energy Sector
Abdulmunim Saif Al Kindy, Executive Director of ADNOC’s Upstream Directorate, stated, “The deployment of AI tools and digital transformation initiatives is at the core of ADNOC’s smart growth strategy, helping to meet the rising global energy demand responsibly. The use of cutting-edge technologies at the ‘Sarb’ field has enabled us to enhance its production capacity, safety, sustainability, and operational efficiency, thereby reinforcing ADNOC’s position as one of the world’s lowest-cost and lowest-carbon-intensity energy producers.”
Partnership with AIQ
AIQ, an Abu Dhabi-based artificial intelligence company, is a key partner in these innovations. AIQ provides advanced solutions such as “DrillRep” and “OptiDrill,” which process data collected from rigs and wells, significantly improving drilling efficiency and operations.
By analyzing daily drilling data and sensor inputs, AIQ’s solutions offer instant insights and optimized actions, enhancing drilling effectiveness and reducing associated risks.
Toward a Smarter and More Sustainable Future
Digital innovations and artificial intelligence are playing a pivotal role in achieving ADNOC’s strategic objectives, positioning the company at the forefront of global efficiency and sustainability in the energy sector.
With these advancements, the “Sarb” field solidifies its status as a pioneering site in the use of advanced technology, reflecting ADNOC’s commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions to meet the growing energy demand.
