Engineer Abdullah Al-Swaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, announced the launch of the initiative named (Inclusive Industrial AI), directed towards members of the Digital Cooperation Organization. The goal of this initiative is to support research and development, increase awareness, and enhance management in the field of Industrial AI.
This event took place during the third meeting of the General Assembly of the Digital Cooperation Organization, currently chaired by the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting was attended by a group of ministers and senior officials from the sixteen member countries of the organization, along with high-level delegations from partner and observer members.
This Saudi initiative is under the sponsorship of the International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), established by a decision of the Saudi Cabinet in July 2023. The center has its own legal entity, financial and administrative independence, and is headquartered in Riyadh.
The initiative related to Inclusive Industrial AI embodies the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting inclusivity principles and achieving digital prosperity for all groups, and applying ethical standards of AI announced by the Saudi Data and AI Authority (Sadaia) at the Second Global AI Summit held in September 2022, in addition to the guidance principles for using generative AI technologies issued in January 2024, aiming to benefit government, private sectors, and the general public.
The initiative launched by Saudi Arabia seeks to support scientific research in creative AI, raise awareness of its ethical use, develop and organize related policies. It also aims to encourage research, support the development of creative AI, and enhance capabilities in this field.
This initiative emphasizes the continuous support provided by Saudi Arabia towards the goals of the Digital Cooperation Organization aimed at achieving digital integration and growth for all. This support is reflected in the commitment to national, regional, and global responsibilities, enhancing cooperation and partnerships to expedite the digital transformation, supporting advanced AI sectors and applications to serve all countries, especially developing nations.
