The Kingdom has achieved the second position globally in social awareness of artificial intelligence, according to the International Stanford University Index for Artificial Intelligence for the year 2023. This achievement reflects Sdaia’s commitment to social responsibility and its desire to raise awareness of data technologies and artificial intelligence in society.
The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (Sdaia) stated that it adopted a set of principles and objectives related to its official duties in its vision toward social responsibility. It serves as the national reference for data and artificial intelligence and works on organizing, developing, and enhancing these two aspects through the implementation of various projects.
Therefore, Sdaia organized through its academy short and long-term training camps and programs in cooperation with prestigious academic partners and global technology institutions, which had a significant impact by reaching more than 590,000 individuals in the Kingdom. Sdaia worked on raising awareness of artificial intelligence and assisting teachers and employees in effectively using data and artificial intelligence technologies to enhance their educational experience, leading to improved performance at work.
Sdaia went further by focusing on empowering women, launching the first global program called “Elevate” in collaboration with Google Cloud. Over 1000 women were trained in more than 28 countries in the first phase, aiming to empower women worldwide to pursue new jobs in artificial intelligence and machine learning in emerging markets, enhancing their knowledge in the fields of technology, science, and artificial intelligence, and contributing to bridging the gender gap in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields. This reflects the Kingdom’s efforts to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.
The main achievements of the authority were:
- Disseminating innovative culture in society and improving individuals’ lives.
- Launching the National Olympiad for Programming and Artificial Intelligence.
- Participation in developing a data dictionary for artificial intelligence.
- A specialized podcast explaining the importance of these technologies.
- The national framework for professional standards in artificial intelligence.
- The academic framework in Saudi Arabia for artificial intelligence certifications.
- Support for the national charity platform Ihssan.
