Dr. Issam bin Abdullah Al-Wakeet, Director of the National Information Center at (Sadaia), affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia excels as a leading country in the data-driven economy, by implementing a comprehensive strategy in the field of artificial intelligence, focusing on skills development, strengthening policies and legislation, enhancing investment, and supporting research and innovation.
These statements came during his address at the closing of the “Deep Fest” event yesterday, which was organized as part of the “Leap24” conference over four days with the support of Sadaia at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center in Malham, north of Riyadh.
He stated, “Our ambitious agenda aims to make the Kingdom an international hub for data and artificial intelligence by 2030. The Kingdom’s steadfast commitment to enhancing cooperation, ethical practices, and sustainable development in the field of artificial intelligence has been demonstrated. The move towards artificial intelligence in our Kingdom reflects the enlightened vision of wise leadership, including the establishment of a system focusing on ethical considerations and human focus and sustainability.”
He pointed out that the global market for artificial intelligence, especially generative artificial intelligence, is evolving and growing rapidly, with the platform “Statista” expecting the market value to reach $45 billion in 2023 and projected to rise to $207 billion by 2030, meaning a 7% increase in the global GDP according to “Goldman Sachs”.
He emphasized that this path highlights the potential of artificial intelligence technologies and their ability to bring about change. The expansion of the use of generative artificial intelligence in various sectors such as code creation, content management, marketing, and consumer experience applications indicates a shift in industrial processes and consumer strategies. Large investments in artificial intelligence technologies confirm their vast capabilities. He concluded by saying that this day should be a source of hope and a call to action for anyone who believes in the potential of artificial intelligence.
Over 150 speakers and more than 120 exhibitors participated in the “Deep Fest” event, which lasted for four days, where diverse topics were discussed covering the origin of artificial intelligence from its beginnings to current developments, as well as addressing current achievements and impact of artificial intelligence. The role of innovations and emerging technologies in the field of artificial intelligence was reviewed, in addition to highlighting the “Smart C” platform that contributes to achieving urban sustainability and promoting the concept of smart cities for governmental entities.
