During his meeting with members of the International Program for Government Managers in the UAE, Omar Sultan Al Olama, the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy, highlighted the national strategies and initiatives that have succeeded in enhancing the UAE’s global position in the field of artificial intelligence.
The state’s direction focuses on empowering and investing in human development, adopting the best global government models, and ensuring leadership in this field.
He also emphasized the state’s interest in youth and raising awareness about the importance of the artificial intelligence sector and its impact across various industries. Some initiatives and programs related to artificial intelligence in the UAE were reviewed, including the UAE Artificial Intelligence Camp and National Programming Day. It was noted that the state continues to invest in developing its digital infrastructure, possessing the best digital infrastructure in the region, with strong computational capabilities that can be used to develop advanced linguistic exportable models.
Participants in the International Program for Government Managers are meeting with His Excellency Omar Al Olama to receive a briefing on the UAE’s artificial intelligence strategy. This strategy focuses on capacity building, attracting talents from around the world, and developing the legislative framework and investment in infrastructure.
It was pointed out that the UAE successfully enhanced the capabilities and skills of 400 government officials from 2017 to 2021 through an artificial intelligence program organized in collaboration with the University of Oxford.
The strategy for artificial intelligence in the UAE aims to achieve three main objectives, including responsible utilization of artificial intelligence in government sectors, prioritizing research and development, and enhancing efficiency and excellence in the field of artificial intelligence in the UAE to become a global leader in this future-oriented field.
He responded to participants’ questions about artificial intelligence applications, emphasizing the importance of historical data and human roles in determining balances. He also highlighted the necessity of creating regulatory regulations governing artificial intelligence based on its associated challenges.
He also emphasized the importance of developing quality standards and data protection in the face of technological advancements, noting that governments play a role in safeguarding confidentiality and ensuring cybersecurity.
Finally, program participants will be introduced to the best Emirati practices in various strategic sectors during their field visits.
