Slack has broadened access to its artificial intelligence-based tools to include all users subscribed to the service, after initially introducing them to a limited and selected group of customers earlier this year.
As interaction is a key pillar for the success of any workgroup, communication channels within organizations have become essential elements in many collective encounters.
To strengthen teamwork, Slack is introducing several new developments related to artificial intelligence, which the company hinted at during the previous year.
Artificial intelligence works on addressing common issues that people face while using platforms, such as drowning in a vast amount of messages, challenges in finding important information, and keeping track of activities on multiple channels.
Artificial intelligence creates automatic summaries for channels to provide individuals with the key points they may have missed while they were away from the keyboard or smartphone, helping them stay up-to-date on important business matters.
Slack emphasizes that the algorithm responsible for creating these summaries is smart enough to extract contents from diverse topics discussed in the channel.
A similar feature is available for threads, which involve short discussions between one or a few individuals.
The tool provides a brief summary of any topics raised in a concise paragraph. Users can also subscribe to receive a daily newsletter focusing on a specific channel or topic, delivered every morning.
Slack offers a unique feature in searching for specific conversations. Sometimes, it can be challenging to locate the desired conversation among numerous different channels in Slack.
This process allows users to present their queries using colloquial language while the algorithm undertakes real mining and searching tasks.
The platform is striving to improve survey and summarization capabilities by expanding its scope to include new sources of information such as documents, videos, and messages directed to the masses.
These functions are not exclusively reserved for English speakers, as the artificial intelligence technologies provided by Slack also support Japanese and Spanish languages.
Slack mentions that in the near future, it intends to integrate some beloved external applications into its AI environment.
To achieve this goal, a merger with Salesforce’s Einstein assistant is expected in the near future.
