A recent report published by engadget revealed that a watermark will be placed on content created by artificial intelligence on the Snapchat platform. This content can be saved in the camera roll or exported, which is one of the solutions offered by Snapchat to expand its services amid difficulties in determining whether the content was created by AI or not, due to continuous improvement in the tools’ capabilities.
The report also disclosed that the Snapchat watermark will appear as a ghost with a sparkle beside it, and it seems that there is no way to control the icon’s location (unlike other watermarks); however, more information will be available once the feature is added to Snapchat soon.
The addition of AI for visual images follows Snapchat’s steps in categorizing content within the app, including the expansion tool that creates a thumbnail image effect and contains a glowing symbol to indicate it is a feature of artificial intelligence. Additionally, there is the Dreams feature that uses generative artificial intelligence to transform selfie photos into imaginative images that change users’ personalities and give them new identities, and the recipient of the dream image will also receive a card explaining the use of artificial intelligence in it.
