A recent academic study has unveiled the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the creation of fictional novels, revealing that the use of AI applications in writing leads to more homogenous works compared to those crafted solely by human authors. The study, which included approximately 900 participants—one-third of whom were writers and the rest critics—highlighted significant findings.
According to a report by the German Press Agency, the study was conducted collaboratively by researchers from University College London and the University of Exeter. The results indicated that incorporating AI-generated content into novels diminishes originality and uniqueness, making these AI-assisted works more similar to each other than those written entirely by humans.
The findings were published in the journal “Science Advances” and come at a time when creative and media institutions are striving to adapt to the growing use of generative AI technology.
