Du, a subsidiary of Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, announced today the signing of a cooperation agreement with Oracle to provide sovereign cloud computing and artificial intelligence services to the public sector and government entities in the UAE, with a focus on Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
The agreement was signed yesterday during the sidelines of the Artificial Intelligence Summit held in Dubai, where decision-makers, experts, specialists, and officials from both the public and private sectors, along with leading global technology companies, discussed the most important developments, challenges, and opportunities related to artificial intelligence at both local and global levels.
“Oracle Always is a cloud infrastructure platform that enables Oracle partners to offer cloud services to their clients. This platform will enable Du to provide more than 100 cloud infrastructure services, in addition to its cloud services and applications.”
This way, Du becomes the first local provider of cutting-edge cloud services, offering a comprehensive range of these services under its brand as part of its portfolio.
Du also benefits from the close collaboration between Oracle and Nvidia, as it can offer artificial intelligence solutions and new graphics processing units as a service to the government in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
Du mentioned that the cloud services and artificial intelligence solutions from Oracle, along with Nvidia’s accelerated computing platform and software, as well as various solutions and applications, will help enhance the adoption of artificial intelligence in government entities and the public sector in the UAE by speeding up implementation.
Commenting on this, Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO of Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (Du), stated: “The UAE has become one of the fastest-growing markets in cloud computing services globally, where the government sector increasingly benefits from the advantages of cloud computing such as flexibility, efficiency, security, and access to the latest digital technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning.”
Meanwhile, Nick Redshaw, Senior Vice President of Technology and Head of Oracle in the UAE, pointed out that Dubai and the Northern Emirates can benefit from Oracle’s cloud services due to the high performance and flexibility they offer, in addition to opportunities for new technologies like artificial intelligence to enhance government service performance and boost economic growth.
