Tim Cook stated that Apple is currently working on developing innovative and programmed artificial intelligence features that will reach users later this year.
These remarks align with reports coming from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, who previously announced that the iOS 18 operating system could be the biggest update in the history of operating systems.
It seems that the hints mentioned by Cook regarding artificial intelligence generative several times reinforce the idea that we may be on the verge of witnessing a major release this fall.
In previous statements, Apple’s CEO stated, “We will continue to invest in these technologies and others that shape our future, looking ahead to the future.”
Cook also stated, “We have artificial intelligence technology and continue to invest significant time and effort, and we will be happy to share details of our ongoing work in this field later this year.”
The benefits of artificial intelligence generative programming, ranging from advanced image processing to text processing enhancements, are considered the main selling point for smartphones from Google and Samsung in recent months.
It is very rare for Apple to announce its future plans, indicating that it has ambitious plans to integrate artificial intelligence into its iOS, iPadOS, and macOS software platforms later this year.
Cook said that he believes there is a great opportunity for Apple to use artificial intelligence technology and generative artificial intelligence technology, without going into further details or racing.
Although there are not many details in Cook’s statements, they indicated Apple’s desire to compete with Microsoft, Google, Amazon, OpenAI, and other technology companies working on developing advanced artificial intelligence models capable of creating texts and images.
Interest in generative artificial intelligence has been greatly increasing among technology companies and investors since 2022, following the launch of OpenAI’s artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT and the improvement of image generation models.
Apple did not announce an advanced artificial intelligence model last year, despite investing in machine learning technology for a long time through chip acquisitions and developing software that enables it to recognize people or pets in images.
Last year, the company announced a new feature for the iPhone keyboard that automatically corrects based on a linguistic model. This model shares the same underlying technology used by GPT. However, Apple did not use the term “artificial intelligence” during the presentation, opting instead for the academic term “machine learning.”
