The Saudi Cabinet, chaired by the Saudi Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, approved the establishment of an “International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics” in Riyadh. The center will have independent legal and financial autonomy, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency “SPA”.
Saudi Arabia has achieved the top position globally in the Government AI Strategy Index. This index is one of the global rankings for artificial intelligence issued by “Tortoise Intelligence”, measuring over 60 countries worldwide.
Since early on, Saudi Arabia has shown interest in artificial intelligence, issuing a royal decree in 1440 AH to establish the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority “Sadaya“, the national authority for regulating and developing data and artificial intelligence-related technologies in the Kingdom.
“Sadaya” developed a national strategy for data and artificial intelligence to unify efforts and implement national initiatives for maximum benefit.
