The UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology has issued a guide on use cases for the Industrial Technological Transformation Index to provide detailed information to manufacturers and stakeholders about successful experiences and recommendations on adopting Industry 4.0 technologies and sustainability initiatives in the industrial sector.
The comprehensive guide contains over 90 use cases extracted from 1530 applications of Industry 4.0 and sustainability initiatives. These cases offer investment opportunities worth 1.5 billion dirhams across 9 key sectors in the UAE’s industrial sector. These results were derived from assessments of the Industrial Technological Transformation Index.
The initiative aligns with the objectives of the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology “Project 300 Billion” to enhance innovation by accelerating the adoption of advanced technology in all aspects of the industrial value chain. It also aims to support the growth of local industries and enhance their competitiveness globally.
Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, stated they focus on supporting the growth of the industrial and technological sectors in the UAE by establishing laws and regulations that provide appropriate advantages and facilities, as well as launching supporting initiatives, programs, and plans. Their goal is to create a conducive environment to enhance competitiveness and increase the industrial sector’s contribution to the GDP.
At the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, we are working on developing and launching initiatives to promote the adoption of artificial intelligence applications in the industrial sector. We are pleased to launch the guide on use cases for the Industrial Technological Transformation Index, which helps leaders of industrial institutions in the UAE to develop their policies and make necessary decisions to enhance the country’s industrial growth, support technological transformation, leverage Fourth Industrial Revolution solutions such as artificial intelligence and Internet of Things in the local industrial sector, enhance innovative solutions, and increase technology’s role in the industrial sector through innovation and future forecasting.
Sarah Bint Yousif Al Ameri, Minister of Public Education and Advanced Technology, highlighted the importance of the guide on use cases for the Industrial Technological Transformation Index in empowering the industrial sector to make decisions that promote innovation and sustainability. She emphasized achieving the goals of the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology in enhancing the growth of the national industrial sector and increasing the use of modern technology. She also noted that over 92% of the evaluated companies used sustainability initiatives, and approximately 32% of manufacturers integrated Industry 4.0 applications in their operations, reflecting sector progress and opening opportunities for small and medium enterprises to enhance their performance and efficiency to international and local standards.
The guide aims to showcase successful models of adopting Industry 4.0 technology in the UAE’s industrial sector and was launched in an advanced training course for executive managers from large, small, and medium-sized industrial companies, as well as technology companies and universities.
Participants in the workshop, named “The Importance of Innovation: Building an Advanced Industrial Group Using the Latest Technologies,” held at the main headquarters of the Ministry of Industry in Dubai, discussed potential opportunities and challenges related to integrating innovative practical experimental results into their operations. The guide, prepared based on detailed evaluation reports, presents successful cases of using “Industry 4.0” in specific areas and applications and outlines the fundamental principles that enable industrialists in the UAE to adopt “Industry 4.0” in their operations, achieve digital transformation, and enhance their business efficiency.
The guide emphasizes the importance of leveraging advanced technology to improve efficiency and increase productivity by using it to carry out routine tasks such as “preventive maintenance of equipment and factories” and “optimizing” tasks.- Organizational operations utilizing robots” and other processes.
The launch of the Industrial Technological Transformation Index in February 2023 as part of the Technological Transformation Program, with the aim of supporting companies and assisting them in their digital transformation and development of their activities.
The index serves as a comprehensive tool for measuring digital maturity and sustainability, and providing a detailed roadmap to enhance production in a smarter and more sustainable way. The index was developed in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development to measure the implementation of “Industry 4.0” and sustainability practices in factories, with the goal of enhancing efforts to reduce carbon emissions and achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
