The authorities in the American state of California have announced the use of artificial intelligence in fighting forest fires. This type of technology is capable of monitoring fires in over a thousand forests in the state before they spread, allowing for quick containment and extinguishment of fires.
The Forest Management Agency has indicated that artificial intelligence has been employed to combat expected forest fires in California in the upcoming season. Modern technology tools have been linked to over a thousand cameras for quicker fire detection.
It’s noted that there is an artificial intelligence program conducting virtual patrols around the clock seven days a week. This technology can now detect a fire in the remote Cleveland forest fifty minutes before the first emergency call at night. This early detection contributed to preventing the fire from spreading and completely extinguishing it in less than an hour.
Artificial intelligence can assist in predicting natural disasters, with many studies indicating its capability to contribute to various disaster management stages. Initially, it can forecast and anticipate to aid in disseminating information about the event, as well as in monitoring and early detection of potential new risks.
Artificial intelligence can also enhance earthquake detection and warn of tsunami waves by utilizing available geological information from global research centers.
