Jimmy Wales, the founder of the famous Wikipedia platform, strongly criticized the ChatGPT chatbot, pointing out that it provides users with inaccurate information from his point of view.
In a television interview, Wales expressed his opinion on the use of ChatGPT in writing articles on Wikipedia, stating: “In my opinion, it was not successful, as it made errors in most details and presented inaccurate information.”
Wales did not rule out the possibility of utilizing artificial intelligence capabilities in Wikipedia, when he highlighted the platform’s need for a tool based on artificial intelligence to detect errors.
According to Jimmy Wales, he is willing to partner with an open-source artificial intelligence company that allows the free use of its models to align with Wikipedia’s core principles.
Wales pointed out that if Wikipedia decides to use artificial intelligence, it must ensure the accuracy of the information in the online encyclopedia and attribute it back to its original source.
