Microsoft has announced a new feature called “Generative Erase” in the built-in Photos app in the Windows 11 operating system.
It seems that there are other companies besides Google and Samsung integrating artificial intelligence tools for photo scanning into their products.
Microsoft says it will not only introduce this feature in Windows 11, but will also add all AI-powered photo editing features to Windows 10, as well as Windows 11 for Arm64 devices.
This move aims to provide powerful editing tools to a large number of individuals directly through their current devices.
The “Generative Eraser” feature relies on artificial intelligence to identify elements and individuals in the background of the image, allowing the user to easily remove them.
This new feature is now available in the preview version on both Windows 11 and Windows 10, and is expected to be generally available in the coming weeks.
Microsoft states that the new Geneative Eraser feature is an evolution of the Spot Fix tool in the Photos app, making it easier to smoothly and realistically remove people and objects from the background.
The company did not mention whether images edited using artificial intelligence come with descriptive data or watermarks to distinguish them from non-AI modified images.
The Photos app has received several AI-supported enhancements in recent months, including the built-in background blur tool and the ability to change the image background.
These benefits are just a small part of the hard work to transform the Windows operating system into an AI-powered system.
The upcoming Windows 11 update, also known as version 24H2, is expected to include advanced artificial intelligence features such as natural language search and Copilot.
Microsoft has also enhanced its applications like Photos, Email, and Notebook with AI capabilities.
The next wave of AI-powered computers is also expected to have additional functions not available in current devices.
The development of artificial intelligence does not stop at the giant software company, as the Windows 11 operating system continues to improve its capabilities with AI technologies almost on a monthly basis.
