X platform has introduced a new chatbot with artificial intelligence capabilities named Grok, developed by the startup company XIA owned by billionaire Elon Musk, for +Premium subscribers.
Musk stated that providing the Grok service to all +Premium subscribers in the United States has been completed, but cautioned that the trial version may encounter several issues, yet the conversational robot is continuously receiving enhancements.
Musk has outlined a timeline for expanding the Grok service to international markets outside the United States, expecting that all +Premium subscribers using English language will be able to access Grok within a week or soon after that.
Subsequently, Japanese users will follow this goal to introduce Grok in all languages by early 2024.
The timelines Musk sets are not always aligned with his statements, as owners of Tesla electric cars are still waiting for a long time to achieve full self-driving feature.
Musk was slightly delayed in estimating the launch of Grok, as on November 22, he indicated that the AI chatbot would be introduced in the upcoming week to +Premium subscribers, while Grok was actually launched on December 8.
Observers anticipate whether the chatbot will succeed in increasing subscription revenues for the X platform or not. Currently, Grok is included as part of the +Premium subscription offer at a cost of $16 monthly within the X platform.
This subscription comes at a higher cost compared to the basic subscription plan at $3 per month and the main subscription plan at $8 per month.
It is not clear whether +Premium subscription can attract regular users interested in artificial intelligence who use competing chatbots like ChatGPT or Bard for free.
The +Premium subscription includes access to additional benefits to enhance its appeal, such as no ads in the “For You” feed and Events feed for followers.
+Premium users also receive enhanced responses, in addition to enjoying all the benefits of a Premium subscription, such as sharing ad revenue with creators, verification, getting the blue verification badge, access to Media Studio, and other features.
