YouTube platform has announced new measures to combat misuse of artificial intelligence and misleading information, which will be implemented in the coming months.
The new policies focus on enhancing transparency in videos created using artificial intelligence, as well as combating deepfake issues.
Google’s YouTube allows users to request removal of any content generated by artificial intelligence, or any other content that resembles a recognizable personality, whether it includes the person’s face or voice.
Individuals can submit removal requests through the privacy request process available on YouTube, but the company will make its decision after carefully identifying the individual.
Musicians or their representatives can be asked to remove any content using artificial intelligence technology to mimic their voices, and these policies come at a time when deepfake distribution and sharing are widespread.
YouTube platform claims that it will communicate with content creators regarding the use of this new tool before its launch, leading to a disclaimer in the description indicating that the content has been “modified or simulated”.
