YouTube, the video sharing platform, is planning to launch its own application that can be accessed through the new Apple glasses “Vision Pro,” according to official statements made by Jessica Gibby, the official spokesperson for the platform, to the tech site The Verge.
It was confirmed that the application is included in the company’s plan without specifying a specific date for its release.
Gibby expressed her strong anticipation for the launch of the Apple glasses, considering that current YouTube users can enjoy a great experience when watching videos through the Safari browser due to the lack of an official YouTube app.
Previously, YouTube rejected the idea of providing its app for the Apple glasses before their release, but the reasons that led them to change their perspective raise questions, perhaps due to the popularity of an unofficial app called “Juno,” which allows access to YouTube through the glasses.
YouTube platform users are hoping that the new app will support watching videos using virtual reality and “360-degree” technologies, in addition to providing 3D videos comfortably.
Furthermore, current YouTube users cannot watch virtual reality videos on the platform through the Safari browser, as it does not support the WebXR standard that allows for displaying such videos.
