The branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture in Al-Jouf, in collaboration with the Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Chair for Sustainable Development at Jouf University, organized a training workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence: A Sustainable Agricultural Development Enabler.” The lectures were presented by Dr. Bassam Al-Owaish and Dr. Madaallah Al-Ruwaili at the branch center in Sakaka today, Tuesday, in the presence of a group of stakeholders.
The workshop aims to highlight the importance of modern technologies in improving the agriculture industry, as well as the role of artificial intelligence in increasing production and enhancing the quality of agricultural crops.
The training course discussed several important topics, including analyzing the characteristics of the Al-Jouf region related to the agricultural sector, with a particular focus on the environmental and geographical components that represent challenges and opportunities for continuous agriculture. It also discussed ways in which artificial intelligence can be utilized to improve agricultural operations and reduce production costs, leading to increased profits and improving the quality of agricultural products.
The discussion addressed the impact of artificial intelligence technology on soil health and water sustainability. These smart systems can assist in enhancing soil efficiency, accurately estimating water needs, reducing overuse of these resources, and helping maintain the natural balance of the environment.
The training course concluded by discussing the importance of artificial intelligence in determining agricultural crop varieties, with the aim of meeting market requirements, thereby enhancing the promotion opportunities for these products and increasing their added value.
