OpenAI has revealed a long-term agreement with the American magazine “TIME”, allowing access to and utilization of the published content in the magazine for its products like the ChatGPT robot.
In line with this deal, the company will have access to the century-old archives of “TIME” magazine.
When incorporating any content from the magazine in responses, OpenAI will clarify the content with an added reference and a link leading back to the original source on Time.com.
The executive operations director of the renowned magazine, Mark Howard, stated: “Over our 101-year history, TIME magazine has embraced innovation to evolve how we deliver our trusted journalism in line with technology. This partnership with OpenAI reinforces our goal of disseminating reliable information globally, and we will continue to embrace new and innovative ways to present our journalism to audiences worldwide.”
Brad Lightcap, the executive operations director at OpenAI, said: “We are collaborating with TIME magazine to facilitate access to news using our artificial intelligence technologies and to support reliable journalism by providing appropriate attribution to the original sources.”
On the other hand, this strategic partnership will enable TIME magazine to leverage the latest artificial intelligence technologies provided by OpenAI, allowing them to develop new products and enhance their journalistic quality.
In recent months, OpenAI has announced agreements with various media companies like “The Atlantic”, “Fox Media”, “Financial Times”, and “Axel Springer” to access their content. The financial value of these agreements has not been disclosed.
These agreements allow OpenAI to utilize content from the media institutions to train its AI models, while providing these institutions with the opportunity to use advanced OpenAI models to enhance their media performance.
