A workshop titled “Empowering Artificial Intelligence in the Non-Profit Sector: Challenges and Opportunities” was held at the College of Computer and Information Sciences at King Saud University. It was attended by a number of distinguished guests from leaders in the non-profit sector and donors, including the dean of the college and the dean of research.
The workshop was organized to highlight the efforts that the university is making to support research and innovation in the non-profit sector. The strategic direction and goals of the research chair were discussed, along with an analysis of its current and future projects. The discussion revolved around utilizing modern technologies like artificial intelligence in developing the non-profit sector and turning theories into practical applications for public benefit.
Dr. Salman bin Wahaf emphasized the importance of engaging in volunteer work and utilizing the research and consultancy capabilities offered by the university through the College of Computer and Information Sciences for all segments of society.
In the same context, Dr. Majdul Sultan bin Sufran, the supervisor of the research chair, provided a comprehensive overview of the chair’s strategy and goals, and how to enhance applied research in the field of electronic dialogue and cultural communication using artificial intelligence technology. Dr. Sultan Al-Farhud also discussed the key global practices related to artificial intelligence in the non-profit sector and future trends.
It is noted that the workshop represents an important starting point to enhance collaboration between universities and non-profit organizations, and to promote research and innovation in the field of artificial intelligence, which will have a positive impact on society by developing innovative solutions to the challenges faced by these institutions.
On the sidelines of the workshop, the inauguration of the Electronic Dialogue and Cultural Communication Research Chair at the College of Computer and Information Sciences took place. King Saud University had previously signed an agreement to establish the research chair with the Rukn Al-Hadhar Association, funded by the Sulaiman Abanmi Foundation.
