Mercedes enables you to have interactive conversations with your car, as the German car manufacturer has introduced a new virtual assistant that provides context-based suggestions and engages users in dialogue, indicating a further step towards using artificial intelligence in cars.
The company explained that the assistant speaks with a different tone of voice depending on different emotions and asks smart questions to understand the requirements precisely.
Marco Schäfer, the technology director at Mercedes, clarified, “The car is your partner in conversation, where you can ask questions and engage in fruitful discussions.”
Mercedes plans to launch the assistant in its cars, including the new CLA model, which is a complete electric model of the small four-door version, produced by the car manufacturing company.
Car manufacturers are striving to outperform their competitors through software technology, given that electric car devices are less complex and diversified compared to those powered by internal combustion engines.
As technology evolves, voice assistant technology in cars has continuously evolved, starting from using personal avatars and reaching generative artificial intelligence technology.
Mercedes affirmed that the new feature distinguishing its voice assistant is verifying the reasonableness of the responses it provides.
A Mercedes voice assistant verifies recommendations through data stored in the cloud and autonomously notifies customers when a recommended restaurant or store is closed.
The interior ambient lighting shines with various colors, and the integrated touch responses in the virtual assistant seats convey its message.
The voice assistant can learn the driver’s daily routine and access user calendar information to provide suitable suggestions.
If the assistant notices that you are running late for a meeting, it may suggest joining the meeting via a virtual call to enable you to conduct the conference call on the way.
