Google has announced the integration of the artificial intelligence assistant Gemini in its core user-focused applications at the Google I/O 2024 developers conference, according to the company’s statement.
The company mentioned that Gemini will be available on the Gmail email service to assist users in composing and summarizing emails, conducting advanced searches in the inbox, performing complex tasks such as comparing product prices and summarizing a group of messages, checking attachments and answering related questions, summarizing illustrated meetings, and other tasks.
Google stated that the artificial intelligence assistant Gemini will be fully integrated with other productivity applications, such as Calendar, Tasks, and Notes.
The Gemini application will allow, for example, the ability to directly add a list of events from a captured image to Calendar or Tasks application. It will also be possible to save any content provided by Gemini directly as a note in the Keep Notes app, and this will be accessible through extensions for Google applications and services inside the smart assistant.
In the same context, Google will incorporate Gemini’s capabilities into Google Maps through the application programming interface targeting developers. Thanks to this integration, developers will be able to display artificial intelligence summaries of places and areas on their applications and websites, based on the analysis of feedback in Google Maps’ massive community with over 300 million contributors.
With this new capability, developers will no longer need to manually write place descriptions, as Google works on bringing contextually supported search results with artificial intelligence to the Places API. Thus, when users search for places in a developer’s application, comments and related images will be displayed.
These updates are part of Google’s strategy to provide users with artificial intelligence features and make them a part of their daily experience in using products.
