Nokia, the technology company, has unveiled a tool that leverages artificial intelligence to create messages for workers in the industrial sector, including warnings about faulty machines based on real-time data and recommended actions to enhance factory productivity.
In its statement, the company announced that the MX Workmate tool enhances artificial intelligence technologies and large language models to create context-aware linguistic content that resembles human-generated content based on real-time operational technology data.
This allows workers to understand complex machines, access real-time status and industry information to achieve high flexibility, productivity, and sustainability, in addition to improving worker safety.
The smart technology provides early alerts regarding any machine malfunction, along with recommended actions to rectify the issue or suggest solutions for improving production quality and rates, as well as handling incidents in factories.
Nokia offers fourth and fifth-generation technologies enabling internal communications or assisting industrial companies in connecting to data from machine sensors, as well as other uses.
Nokia aims to provide a solution that uses artificial intelligence to help workers understand data, with Nokia introducing this tool at a time when manufacturing companies are facing a shortage of qualified personnel.
Generative artificial intelligence became popular last year with the emergence of ChatGPT, and this technology is capable of producing content that appears similar to human-written content.
Generative artificial intelligence is still in its early stages of regulation, and many refer to potential legal or ethical issues it may raise.
The new solution from Nokia is in line with technological operation regulations; however, companies require time to build trust in the new technology, which initially needs thorough testing and calibration to ensure smooth operation across industries.
Some aspects of generative artificial intelligence are still in the research phase, such as providing solutions for the problem of hallucination, although the MX Workmate solution must be accurate, clear, and correct according to Nokia.
Nokia clarified that the solution should be traceable and supervised, with initial guarantees, such as verifying the accuracy of artificial intelligence claims by an accredited individual.
The company plans to showcase initial versions of the tool at the Global Mobile Phones Conference in Barcelona at the end of February.
