During the Mobile World Congress held in Shanghai (MWC Shanghai 2024), Huawei revealed the commercial launch of advanced 5.5G networks, marking the beginning of a new era of AI-supported communication networks.
The company called on all its partners in the telecommunications sector to accelerate the development of 5G networks, which have gained worldwide fame since their launch in 2019, achieving in five years what 4G networks achieved in nine years. The company also urged intensifying cooperative efforts to leverage the benefits that will come with the next stage of 5.5G networks, notably the speed increase of up to tenfold.
Through participation in events, conferences, and forums held alongside the congress, Huawei highlighted how 5G networks can be enhanced and utilized to support digital transformation in businesses, communication services, and other industries, contributing to a new era of smart digitization.
Introducing a new range of products and solutions facilitating the operation of 5.5G networks, also known as advanced 5G networks. This range supports the operation of smart devices necessary for mobile phone networks in the age of artificial intelligence.
Huawei announced the launch of a new global program for advanced 5G technology enthusiasts, in collaboration with “Du” and “Omantel”, during a special event. The conference was held under the theme: “Driving Success with Advanced 5G.”
The conference hosted leading 5G operators from around the world, including the three major companies in China, Hong Kong Telecom, Du, and Omantel. Participants discussed enhancing the development of high-quality 5G networks and leveraging the opportunities provided by the upcoming smart world to open new horizons for the growth of communication markets.
Huawei announced a new milestone achieved in collaboration with top 5G network operators and global partners and organizations. Together, they launched a joint initiative aimed at developing high-quality video services through mobile phones, aligning with the requirements of the AI era.
They will hold a series of intensive meetings over the next three days with global operators and telecommunications industry partners to discuss ways to improve F5G-A and Net5.5G fixed networks and Internet Protocol networks.
During 2024, some operators in the Middle East have become pioneers in deploying advanced 5G networks globally. They have already started offering distinguished packages based on experiences with these networks and benefiting from their advanced features.
5G networks attract more than 1.8 billion users worldwide:
Huawei announced that the number of global 5G network users has exceeded 1.8 billion people. It noted that many operators have already begun reaping the benefits of the first wave of these networks by developing their businesses and contributing to the growth of other sectors through the new services and features offered.
Commencement of a new era for AI-enhanced networks
David Wang, CEO of Huawei’s Board of Directors and Chairman of the IT & Communications Technology Infrastructure Board of Directors, announced during his keynote speech at the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai the beginning of a new era for AI-powered mobile networks.
He said: “Five years have passed since the commercial launch of 5G, and 5G networks have achieved great success, unprecedentedly impacting the global telecommunications industry. 2024 will mark the start of a new chapter in the mobile network world with the advanced capabilities of artificial intelligence, as commercial operation commences for advanced 5G networks and a wide range of smart devices become available. This new era will not only reshape human-machine interaction but also open new horizons in content production and mobile devices, leading to significant positive impacts on human societies and providing new opportunities for AI-powered smartphones.”
Huawei indicates that advanced 5G networks will provide significant opportunities for integration between networks and technologies with cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
This will lead to the creation of innovative new smart applications that provide diverse and unique user experiences tailored to the needs of the modern digital age.
In this context, Yang Shaobing, a member of Huawei’s board of directors and head of the IT and telecommunications products and solutions division, pointed out the significant potential offered by artificial intelligence, especially generative artificial intelligence, in enhancing the capabilities of communication networks and developing their businesses. He also emphasized the benefits that other sectors and industries can reap from this technology, contributing to increasing productivity and service quality.
A new era in the world of communications:
The advanced fifth-generation technology (5G-A) represents a crucial turning point towards ultra-high-speed and highly reliable communications. With a response time as low as 4 milliseconds and reliability of up to 99.999%, this technology will be able to meet the basic needs of industrial production networks, contributing to the realization of advanced digital societies.
The fifth generation will enable network speeds of up to 10 gigabits per second, and the advanced fifth generation (5G-A) will take the industry to a new stage of generating new sources of income and enhancing the experience, transforming services from generic to customized on-demand to meet the various needs of consumers.
