Google has released the Gemini AI app in India, which supports nine Indian languages in addition to English, after it was launched in the United States four months ago. This app allows users to interact with artificial intelligence through writing or speaking in Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
Google confirmed to TechCrunch that the Gemini app is based on Gemini 1.0 Pro as a default version, with the option to access Gemini Advanced based on Gemini 1.5 Pro for an additional fee. Gemini Advanced stands out for its ability to process contextual windows containing a million symbols, enabling it to understand and analyze a wide range of information, from documents up to 1500 pages to complex data analytics. The support for the nine Indian languages available in the app ensures a comprehensive user experience.
In addition to its launch in the Indian market, Google quietly released the “Gemini” app in Turkey, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Android users in these countries can download the app from the Play Store, and can also set “Gemini” as their default assistant in the Google Assistant app. It is expected that iPhone users in India will be able to access “Gemini” through the Google app in the coming weeks.
During the I/O developer conference held in May, Google unveiled new updates for the “Gemini” AI assistant in apps like Gmail, Google Messages, and YouTube, as well as its deep integration within the Android operating system. Some of these improvements are expected to reach supported devices in the coming months. Google announced the availability of “Gemini” in the Google Messages app in English for Indian users starting today.
The “Gemini” app was initially launched in the United States in February, and it started spreading to European markets such as Germany, France, Italy, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. In April, support for Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and Portuguese languages was added to increase the user base.
