The Saudi Journalists’ Syndicate branch in the Mecca region organized a training workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence in Media”, delivered by Dr. Nahla Zamzami, head of the Media Department at Jeddah University, at the headquarters of the company of non-Arab African pilgrims, with the attendance and participation of branch members.
Fahad Al-Ihaywi, the director of the Saudi Journalists’ Syndicate branch in the Mecca region, emphasized the importance of these quality programs that the branch prioritizes in implementing; to develop the journalism profession, benefit from various sources, and contribute to enhancing the practical and professional aspects for journalists.
He also mentioned the continuity of these activities in the coming period, praising the efforts of the company of non-Arab African pilgrims as the host of this program, presented by Dr. Nahla Zamzami.
Zamzami highlighted the importance of the journalism profession and its evolution through technological and digital tools, emphasizing the need to deal with them and utilize them to enhance the profession’s quality and the accuracy of information dissemination.
She stated that regardless of technological advancements, the role of journalists remains vital in utilizing and using them appropriately and professionally in producing media content.
The concept of artificial intelligence and its relationship with journalistic work was discussed, as well as the use of its techniques in serving journalism, improving content quality, verifying news accuracy, combating rumors, and how smart newsrooms face opportunities and challenges.
Zamzami focused on the tools used in creating and editing written content, as well as tools for generating and editing visual and video content, digital marketing tools, and advertisements.
She emphasized the importance of artificial intelligence in verifying the accuracy of news and combating rumors, as well as discussing the topic of artificial intelligence journalism and deep manipulation.
Dr. Zamzami and the non-Arab African company were honored by the Syndicate branch in Mecca, where they received the recognition on behalf of President Khalid Alawi. Dr. Razan Sandi and Ahmed Halabi, who presented the program, were also honored for their role in coordinating the program. The company presented similar gifts to the Syndicate.
